Location, Location

On Monday we watched the pilot for a new series; Continuum. It was unremarkable, but for its innovative use of location. It was shot in Vancouver, like so many TV shows and films. Vancouver has stood in for Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Boston, and Generic Unnamed North American City.

Continuum did something new with the location, they set the story in the Canadian city of Vancouver. No longer will the cameramen have to carefully avoid clear shots of cars or have eagle eyed viewers wondering at the number of British Colombia plates on the streets of the Big Apple. They can also avoid the extra shooting needed to get establishing shots of Alcatraz, Cable Cars, and the Golden Gate to give the illusion of a setting in the City by the Bay.
