I purchased a pair of noise cancelling headphones a few months ago, to make long trips on aircraft a more pleasant experience. I did not buy the Bose units that are synonymous with that category of device; as the $300 price tag seemed excessive. There are others who are obviously happy to spend more on headphones; a lot more.

The Sennheiser Orpheus HE90 had a retail price of $16,000. They are no longer made and go for over $30,000 on Ebay; that is one-hundred times the price that I found off-putting for Bose.

  1. I wonder how the price is justified?

My noise-canceling headphones were an absolute godsend on the latest trip to Dallas when, as usual, I was seated in front of a shrieking baby.
