I had always thought of the states in the Old South as being deeply religiously conservative. It seems that the city of Wilmington, North Carolina, at least, is an exception. Their annual Azalea festival features competitive sexual intercourse with a non-professional and a junior section. The 2008 winners of the 2008 junior section share a surname; so are either married young or the rumours about rednecks and families may be true.
