Vote Early, Vote Often

There is a phrase oft used about Chicago politics, “Vote early and vote often”. This described the less than honest methods used by city bosses to control the results of elections in the Windy City. This level of election fraud pales compared to that which Governor Mick Huckabee alleges took place in Alaska.

In Huckabee’s address to the Republican National Convention he said:
In fact, I don’t know if you realize this, but Sarah Palin got more votes running for mayor in Wasilla, Alaska, than Joe Biden did in two quests for the presidency — that oughta tell you something.

Joe Biden received 80,000 votes in his failed attempt to capture the Democratic nomination this year. I do not know how many he received in his previous attempt. However, since Ms Palin was elected mayor of a town whose population is significantly less than 10,000 each person must have voted over eight times each. Gov. Huckabee’s point is clear, the vice presidential candidate is able to use electoral fraud to her advantage – a useful skill as the late LJB knew.

Thanks to Millard Filmore’s Bathtub for the quote from the speech. He offers an alternative, less black helicopter explanation of the remark – but where is the fun in that?

Note: Palin received just over 900 votes when re-elected as mayor, and 600 when she was first elected. So the MFB reasoning is correct.

  1. Isn’t it interesting that the RNC spreads lies about both their candidates and their competitors?

Too many people here in the US are ignorant, or too exhausted by their busy daily lives to care enough, so this is an unfortunately effective strategy.

  2. It just amazes me this whole political scandal we call elections. If this were happening in Africa the world would be up in arms over it. Dang!
