It is frequently stated that “God is an Englishmen”. I shall make no comment upon the veracity of this statement, beyond observing that no one can actually disprove it. The assertion came to mind as I walked back from lunch this afternoon; a gentle breeze blew under a perfect blue sky framed by rolling hills. At that moment it was nigh impossible to think of a more perfect place to be strolling – even though I was on way back to work. If God is an Englishman, then maybe he is an ex-pat and has taken omnipresent residence in California.

I have mentioned in a previous post that in the UK estate agents do not typically quote the square feet (or meters) of a house in the sales details. Therefore, friends and families in the UK have not been able to get a feeling for what a 2,700 sq foot house feels like. This website helps by taking measurements and quoting them in more familiar terms. I assume that the site may be British, as it compares our house area to a 4.2 cricket pitches; a unit that would not make sense to most Americans.
The posts title refers to the distance I walk to and from work when I come home for lunch.
