Presidential Trivia

Ilegirl introduced me to the fascinating blog “Millard Filmore’s Bathtub”. Today, the blog marks the anniversary of the death of William Henry Harrison. He died one month to the day after taking office. The article fails to mention one other fact of note about this shortest of all Presidencies; Harrision delivered the longest inaugural speech of any President. Given the weather that day it is possible that a briefer speech would have left him less susceptible to the pneumonia that killed him. Harrison is therefore an object lesson to us all of the importance of brevity in speech, which matches neatly with the title of the MFB post.
